The Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku has reiterated the need for believers in Christ and the entire population to embrace both the church and government programs that are aimed at pushing them out of poverty.
The Prelate advises that as the government continues to disburse millions of money through her poverty eradication program, the Parish Development Model (PDM), the citizens ought to be steadfast in applying for them and invest the money wisely to generate wealth for economic empowerment.
He was optimistic that even the church has such poverty eradication initiatives before imploring the Christians to always embrace them for their economic stability.
The Bishop, however, urged the beneficiaries to always report cases of corruption that might be sighted in the implementation of programs to the relevant authorities in order to ensure effectiveness and transparency in order for them to achieve the intended goals.
He made the remarks yesterday while responding to a report that was read to him during his visit to St. Phillip’s Kihyo Church of Uganda in Muzahura Parish, Rwesande Archdeaconry shortly after confirming 41 Christians into the Anglican faith.
In the report, the Kihyo Church of Uganda Head of Laity decried the challenge of low income earned by the Christians hence making them languish in absolute poverty.
The Bishop observed the need for the parents to embark on educating their children as a way of securing their future.
