On April 04 2025, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, His Grace The Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu officiate the Inauguration of the Uganda Christian University – Kagando University College at Kagando Rural Development Center – KARUDEC. This was described as a greatest achievement for the Diocese to have a University at the doorsteps of the people.
Presided over by Can. Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports as the Chief Guest, the University College was also described a Very Fruitful project that would benefit the citizens.
This University College at Kagando Rural Development Center would be a center for Excellence to produce professionals with Bachelors Degrees in different Medical disciplines. It’s establishment would also bridge the long distance gap for those scholars who travel long distances to study.





Different dignitaries witnessed the inauguration of the Uganda Christian University – Kagando University College.


The Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku hailed the Government of Uganda for the tireless effort towards ensuring the development of the education sector by supporting schools established by the church.
Bishop Baluku revealed that South Rwenzori Diocese has 139 Primary Schools of which 106 are government grant aided; and 15 Secondary Schools of which only 04 are government grant aided.
Canon Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports in her speech mentioned Kagando Rural Development Center and Kagando Hospital have been recognized for their exceptional service delivery to the people for long.
She also thanked KARUDEC for teaching the young ones into professionals with saving life techniques which she said was fundamental in their professional career.

On this same day, Kagando School of Nursing and Midwifery held their 06th Graduation Ceremony which saw 504 students attains Certificates in different fields.
To the graduants, Can. Dr. Turyagyenda stated that real learning starts from graduation asking them not to despise any man as long as they have experience. She also asked them not to undermine jobs since they have joined the competitive world of job seeking.
Can. Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda encouraged them to be more innovative and creative than job seekers which she said might attract more years of them being on streets.



The graduants pledged allegiance to their professional code of conduct in executing their duties.
