The Motorcycle registration number UFY 755X was to enable the Parish vicar carry out Pastoral work effectively. It costed about Ug Shillings 5.5 Million was a gift promised by the Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku during his episcopal visit to the parish on November 05, 2023.
The Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku, the Bishop of South Rwenzori Dicoese said that it has been his prayer that during his tenure all parish priests working in hard to reach areas receive motorcycles to ease their transport means in serving the Lord.
“By nature of Buhunga’s geographical location, the office thought it to mobilize funds that would purchase a motorcycle for the parish. A parish priest walks about 10 kilometers to reach a boda boda stage from Buhunga to Maliba which is too long for the servant of God. I promised the parish a gift; not in form of food stuffs but the gift i have given you will last longer than the food i would have given the Christians. There fore Rev. Erican Mbusa Mahwa, handle that motorcycle very well such that even the person who will after you finds it there and in a working condition.” Bishop Baluku said.
Rev. Erican Mbusa Mahwa said that the gift to his parish has become a relief to the parish because they would spend much on transport.
“I would walk 06 to 10 Kilometers to the nearest boda boda stage or spend about 7,000 Shillings to 10,000 Shillings on transport since Buhunga is a very mountainous area. Am happy that all these challenges have come to an end and the money that would be spent on transport will now be used for other church developments. I thank the office of the Bishop and also thank him for the love to us.” Rev. Mahwa says.
This Brand new gift to St. Andrew’s Buhunga Church of Uganda parish in Maliba Archdeaconry becomes the 27th motorcycle given to parish priests across the South Rwenzori Diocese to ease the work of the Lord’s servants especially in the Mission and Evangelism section and pastoral ministry.
