On Wednesday, March 9, vicars and lay readers of South Rwenzori Diocese received new motorcycles and bicycles to aid them in their work. The vehicles were provided by The Voice of the Martyrs, a mission organization that empowers Christians around the world to spread the gospel.
The ceremony took place outside St. Paul’s Cathedral in Kasese. Bishop Nason Baluku, Rev. Asa Kiriaghe, Rev. William Musisi, and Rev. Johnckson Murabyo led a ceremony of prayer, singing, and sharing with the church workers who were to receive the vehicles. Seven motorcycles were given to parish vicars in hard-to-reach areas, and fifty motorcycles were given to lay readers, with the aim of strengthening mission and evangelism work in the diocese.
Reverend Sikawa Amos, vicar of Kighuthu Parish, shared after receiving his motorcycle: “I thank God and the partners of the Voice of Martyrs who are working with South Rwenzori Diocese… I thank them very much because I am sure the gospel is going to reach to every person, because I will be having easier transport to reach to my people.”
