Over 3,000 Missioners commissioned to preach the gospel during the South Rwenzori Diocesan Great Mission.

The Great Mission under the theme; Where are you? a text from Genesis 3: 9 – 11 is targeting a harvest of 1.2 million people across Kasese District to turn to Christ.

The Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku, the Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese while commissioning the Missioners at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Kasese appealed to them to preach the risen Christ not religion to be able to achieve their goal.

The Diocesan Great Mission that will run for One week (from 13 – 19th November) will be the second of its kind ever since 1993 when South Rwenzori Diocese held its first Diocesan Great Mission.

Rev. Can. Dr. John Senyonyi, the Former Vice Chancellor for Uganda Christian University who is among the Guest speakers at the Great Mission highlighted that it was because of the affectionate love that the Lord had for Adam and Eva that he decided to look for them so as they reunite. He was relating to the Theme of the Mission; “Where Are You?”

The activities during this Diocesan Great Mission are; preaching the word of Hope to the people, praying and reaching out to them One on One, having Open-Air campaigns, gospel Evangelism, Visiting institutions, Fishing sites, offices and prisons with the gospel, and Door to Door Evangelism among others.

The South Rwenzori Diocesan Great Mission has attracted Preachers, Evangelists and Missioners from all over Uganda and abroad.

The Guest Speakers at the Mission are; The Retired Archbishop of Church of Uganda, Henry Luke Orombi, the Rt. Rev. Charles Muchene Muturi – Bishop of Mt. Kenya South, the Rt. Rev. Prof. Alfred Olwa – Bishop of Lango Diocese, the Rev. Can. Dr. John Senyonyi- Former Vice Chancellor at Uganda Christian University and Rev. Henry Blair – National Director SOMA Ireland.
